Any mechanized device or combination of devices which carries or conveys passengers along,  around or over a fixed or restricted course for the purpose of giving its passengers amusement, pleasure, thrills or excitement.  "Amusement rides and devices" include traditional rides located at amusement parks, carnivals, street fairs and festivals, state and county fairs, bungee jumping operations, etc.   Some examples of amusement devices regulated include trackless trains, portable climbing walls, simulators and 3D theaters with moving seats and other special effects.  Amusement rides and devices do not include slides less than 18 feet in height, playground equipment, mechanical horse or bull rides, or coin-operated devices.

Any organization with the intention of operating an amusement ride or device within the state of Colorado.

As a part of the registration process, an applicant must submit documentation of the annual amusement ride inspection, conducted by a qualified, third-party inspector, for each ride that that applicant intends to operate within Colorado during the upcoming permit year on the Division's form.

An inspector must be qualified by training, education, or experience to conduct safety inspections of amusement rides or devices on behalf of an insurance company and in accordance with the ASTM standards, the manufacturer's standards and criteria, or standards established by the insurance company.

On the form, you may indicate whether you would like for your information to be included on our public listing. Please note that all information may still be subject to public access at any time by request.

Registrations are valid for 12 months.
